stuck the middle the installation

Hello there , I am using win xp SP 2 . I ran the upgrade , it copied all the files and after this it made a boot. in the boot I got error saying "windows faild to load because a critical system driver is missing , or corrupt. and the file is " "\$WINDOWS.~BT\Windows\System32\drivers\d343port.sys". So I simply took this file from my WinXp folder and boot again, the Vista setup loades and then after 2 screens it saying "setup faild to load the windows image file". Please , any suggestions? anyway , in case I wont succeed, how can I completely uninstall the vista installation so it wont ask me to choose if I want to load windows setup or an earlier windows installtion?
